The Saltaires are delighted to announce Dr. Brady R. Allred as our new musical director. Dr. Allred has more than three decades of experience as a professional conductor. He was a professor of music and director of choral conducting at the University of Utah until 2010. He is currently the artistic director and conductor of the Salt Lake Choral Artists, where he has directed multiple award-winning choirs since 2004.

During his years with SLCA, Dr. Allred has led his choirs to several 1st place finishes in choral festivals and competitions around the world.

He has served on international juries for competitions in Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland, Slovenia, Spain, Brazil, Indonesia, Japan, China, Korea, Malaysia, and Thailand and has conducted over one hundred regional and All-State Choirs.

Dr. Allred earned a Bachelor of Music degree in theory/composition and flute performance from BYU (1985), a Master of Music degree in choral conducting from the Eastman School of Music (1987) and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in conducting from Eastman (1990).

Brady sang with a barbershop quartet in college, and he is excited for his first experience directing a men's barbershop chorus. The Saltaires are looking forward to benefitting from his musical expertise and competitive spirit.

Assistant Director Grant Goulding

Grant is a versatile performer, clinician, vocal coach, choreographer, and arranger, with over twenty years of experience. He has been a long-time member of the Saltaires and comes with a wealth of knowledge and passion for the choral arts, encompassing vocal jazz, contemporary a cappella, and especially barbershop. He is involved in several singing organizations, including the Barbershop Harmony Society, Sweet Adelines International, The Contemporary A Cappella Society, the American Choral Directors Association, and others.

Grant has sung in, arranged for, and directed many award-winning competitive ensembles and has been decorated with Barbershop Harmony Society, Sweet Adelines International, and Contemporary A Cappella Society accolades. These honors include multiple District Quartet Championships, Regional and District Chorus Championships, International Contest Finalist, and Featured Presenter appearances. Of his role as Assistant Director, Grant says ā€œIā€™m thrilled to continue the journey with the Saltaires. I look forward to exploring the full extent of the potential this ensemble possesses and all that we can accomplish together.ā€
